INDUCTION TRAINING FOR FRESH OFFICERS OF DJS

Induction training for fresh officers of DJS is for one year and provides for training in the Academy for seven months, two months of field placements, one month and three weeks of Court placements, two weeks of excursion, and three weeks of vacation. The prime focus of the course is on Judicial Skills Development, Judicial Ethics, and Sensitisation to Social Issues. The knowledge areas are more focussed on procedural aspects of Court functioning.

Methodology:

Each day of training in the Academy will consist of:

·  Four sessions each day

o       Two sessions – Substantive law, Procedure, Philosophy of law

o       One session - Practical work including Mock Trials, Judgment Writing

o       One session – Computer training / Research / Assignment writing

·  Duration of each session = one hour and fifteen minutes

·  It is proposed that Feature Films, Documentaries, and other teaching materials in audio, video forms are proposed to be used at least once every week of Academy training.

·  Total number of days for classes in Academy = 21 weeks, i.e., 105 Days of classes + 21 days of audio / visual and discussion on them)
